Good morning Brandywine families and staff. We will be closed today, Monday, January 26. The visibility this morning is poor, and roads are snow covered and slick. If you must travel, please be safe. We hope to see everyone back in school tomorrow!

Tomorrow, our schools will be closed.

Now, I’ve seen a lot in my time, quiet mornings, bustling hallways, and the steady rhythm of a school day done right. But every so often, nature clears her throat and reminds us who’s really in charge. Tonight, she’s bringing extreme wind chill and the kind of cold that makes trees crack, groan, and, yes, occasionally explode without warning.

When temperatures plunge that low, safety becomes more than a priority; it becomes the only choice. Travel turns risky, time outside becomes dangerous, and even the strongest among us are better off watching the world from a warm window than braving it head-on.

So tomorrow, we pause. No buses rolling. No bells ringing. Just a day to stay inside, stay warm, and take care of one another.

Sometimes the smartest move isn’t to push forward, it’s to stop, take a breath, and let the storm pass.

We’ll see you when it’s safe to turn the lights back on and open the doors again. Until then, stay warm… and stay well.

DK is so fun!

Today during centers, our students are feeding goldfish to penguins and polar bears then comparing who has more and who has less. They are putting ABC puzzles together, creating winter creations with pattern blocks, counting playdough snowballs, and playing veterinarian at their play center.

Mr. McLaughlin's 3D Art Class was inspired by the Hunter Ice Festival in downtown Niles and have started creating their own sculptures. Instead of ice, students are using blocks of florist foam. Once designs have been carved into the blocks, the final step will be to paint them. Here's a before and after of the process thus far! So cool!

Every now and then, nature has a way of reminding us who’s really in charge. Tonight, the snow has made its intentions clear.

After carefully reviewing weather conditions and road safety reports, Brandywine Community Schools will be closed tomorrow. The decision was made with one priority in mind: ensuring that every student, staff member, and family remains safe.

And so, what began as a three-day weekend quietly becomes a four-day one. An unexpected gift of time, time to rest, to slow the pace, to let the world outside settle for just a little longer.

When we return, routines will resume, and the work will continue. But for tomorrow, the story pauses.

Stay warm. Stay safe. We’ll see you soon.

On Wednesday, first graders in Ms. Hefner's class had a "Cozy Up to a Good Book" Day. Students wore cozy clothes and were able to bring a stuffed friend with them as a reward for good behavior! They read "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" then did a few activities and had a cookie snack. It was a perfect day!
