It's the latest episode of Cat Chat!
Every student’s path to success looks different. For some, the traditional high school setting isn’t the right fit. Others may face academic or behavioral challenges that require a different level of support, flexibility, and structure.
That’s where this team steps in.
While the curriculum is delivered online, the real strength of this program is the people behind it, educators who build relationships, provide consistent support, and help students regain confidence in themselves and their future.
Today, we’re joined by members of our alternative education staff to talk more about what they do, how they support students, and why this work matters so much.

Fourth grade is reading the book Holes by Louis Sachar. They are working on visualization, character analysis, prediction, making inferences, point of view, and theme. Throughout the book, students create artwork, write from different perspectives, and write opinion pieces using evidence from the book.
Holes is a 1998 young adult novel by Louis Sachar about Stanley Yelnats, a boy wrongfully convicted of theft and sent to Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention center where he and other boys are forced to dig holes daily, supposedly to build character, but actually to find buried treasure linked to a historical outlaw and a family curse.

It's Teacher Appreciation Week! We asked our community what makes our teachers so special. Here's what they said:
“I remember the first day of school and I immediately knew I liked Mr. Markel. He’s interactive with us and actually cares about us as humans and not just as students. I really appreciate the bond I’ve had with him this year and I can’t wait for his class again next year.”

Brandywine Community Schools invites staff, students, families, and community members to participate in an important survey. The feedback gathered will be used to develop a comprehensive position profile outlining the characteristics, experiences, and leadership qualities desired in the next superintendent. Your input is a critical part of ensuring the selected candidate reflects the values, priorities, and aspirations of the entire Brandywine community. We strongly encourage all stakeholders to take a few moments to share their perspectives and contribute to this important process. The survey will close on May 18 at 3pm.
