During the school year, we provide our staff with luncheons to celebrate Opening Day, the holidays and the end of the year. Thank you to our sponsors this year who have helped make these celebrations possible!

Students in fifth grade STEM class have been working on designing and building toys for several weeks and last week they took them to our Kindergarten classes to play with! The little ones enjoyed meeting up with their buddies and seeing their inventions!

Students in Mrs. Wallick's third grade class had a special visitor last week! Mrs. Wallick's sister Mary, who holds a Doctorate in Nursing, showed the kids who to do chest compressions as part of CPR on gummy bears! It was harder than they thought.

The Brandywine Choirs and Bands take the stage this Sunday for their annual Holiday Concert! Elementary and middle school will be performing at 2 p.m. and the high school will be performing at 3:15 p.m. This will all take place at the Brandywine Milddle/ Senior High School gym!

Last week, our second graders wrapped up their Ancient Greece and Greek Mythology domains in Knowledge—and they did it in true Greek fashion!
✨ They created their own Greek god and goddess trading cards
✨ Designed labyrinths inspired by Theseus and the Minotaur
✨ Tried their hand at a guided mythological drawing
✨ And even hosted their very own Olympic Games!

Our National Honor Society gives a great holiday party to some Merritt kiddos. But to do so, they need to raise money with their annual coin drive! Bring those coins this week!

It appears Mother Nature sensed that everyone could use one more day to rest and recharge after the Thanksgiving break. Due to poor and potentially dangerous driving conditions on side roads and county roads, Brandywine Community Schools will be closed tomorrow.
The safety of our students, families, and staff is always our top priority. Please stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy the unexpected extra day to relax.
We will continue to monitor conditions and communicate any additional updates as needed.

We are so thankful for our Bobcat community! We hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Yesterday, our sixth graders mixed math with deliciousness! Students followed a no-bake pumpkin pie recipe that required them to measure, compare, and calculate fractions every step of the way. From dividing ingredients to adjusting measurements, they put their math skills to the test—then enjoyed the sweet reward.

Thank you to 2nd & Main and Partnership for Children for working together on the Coffee Sleeve Campaign during the month of November! You have a few more days to grab a coffee sleeve designed by one of our students.

Mrs. Frye’s third graders just wrapped up their Human Systems Unit, and our future doctors were busy in the clinic! Students rotated through hands-on “patient stations,” each one challenging a different skill:
*Math Triage: Using real-world patient story problems, students diagnosed whether the “treatment” called for multiplication, division, addition, or subtraction.
*Text Feature Check-Up: Patients were “sick” until students identified the correct text features to cure them.
*Muscular & Skeletal Lab: Students explored how our bones and muscles work together to keep the body moving.
*Waiting Room: Just like a real doctor’s office, students read themed books on Epic while they waited for their next rotation.
