If you are a parent and haven't signed up for Rooms or are having any issues whatsoever with the app or the communication, please reach out to info@brandywinebobcats.org and we will work on getting you sorted out! This will be the form of communication used going forward to speak directly with your child's teachers. This will replace such apps as Remind and Class Dojo.

Attention Parents and Guardians! Your child is able to get free breakfast (and lunch) at school, guaranteed through at least September 30 when the current funding ends.
Be sure to fill out the Education Benefits Form by October 15. The form can be found here and takes 5 minutes to complete: https://brandywine.familyportal.cloud/

Our first graders are hard at work learning to write their letters! From big curves to little lines, they’re building the foundation for reading, writing, and lifelong learning.

Next week is the next blood drive at Brandywine Middle/Senior High School! It will be held at the Media Center on Tuesday, September 8 from 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

The Bobcat Natural Resources class has had a busy morning cleaning up areas outside the school!
Bobcat Natural Resources is a middle school elective that introduces students to the fundamentals of sustainable living by exploring practical, hands-on projects that connect natural resources with community well-being. Students are working to restore the pond on the school grounds to its original glory and to create an outdoor learning space.

Fourth graders had special visitors on Thursday as part of the Football Buddies program! Football players came over and played football with the kids during recess and then signed autographs for their adoring fans until their hands hurt!

This year, we will be dedicating 20 minutes daily to developing social, emotional, and behavioral (SEB) skills in our classrooms, we are calling this BEST Time (Behavior, Emotional-social, Skills, Traits Time). This includes:
+Community Circles to create inviting, supportive, safe, and joyful environments.
Executive function skills lessons to learn and practice skills that foster planning, organization, and time management.
+Collaboration activities to promote teamwork, communication, and empathy.
+Mindfulness exercises to help students develop self-awareness and self-regulation skills.
+Bobcat Character of the Week Traits to help students districtwide to be empowered and engaged in learning and in life.
🐾Character Trait of the Week: OPEN-MINDNESS🐾
Open-mindedness means being willing to listen to and consider new ideas, even if they are different from your own. It’s about being curious and interested in what others have to say, and not just sticking to what you already know or believe.

On Tuesday, high school students in Bobcat Nation class assisted the football team in handing out "Football Buddies" t-shirts to staff members.
Football Buddies is a new program this year aimed at promoting excitement and involvement within school community and the football program. Each player and manager is getting paired with a Brandywine staff member. The student will visit with their staff “buddy” each game day morning (or whenever schedules permit that day) to check in, say hi, and have a quick visit! Thank you to our staff members for being there for our athletes!

🚌📚 The Brandywine Bobcats are back to school—and making new friends along the way! 🐾

At Brandywine Elementary, we had four students test out of World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) and are now proficient English learners!
🐾What does this mean?🐾 Students who do not have English as their primary language, no matter what, are always screened by the district when they enter the district. If they have a language barrier and it affects their learning, Ms. Kwon, the EL Teacher, will work with them on their speaking, reading, and writing skills in the areas that they struggle in. When students test out of WIDA, this means they have tested out of getting these accommodations and extra support because their understanding of the English language is now proficient.
Congrats to these four students! We are so proud of you!

Nothing says fall like crisp air, marching band music, and Friday night lights (okay, Thursday this week 😉). The marching band was hard at work during class today practicing for their first half-time show!
