On Tuesday, November 18, three of our 8th grade band standouts — Cooper Saddison, Jude Skinner, and Grant Livengood — proudly represented Brandywine at the Western Michigan University Mid-Fest Middle School Honors Band in Kalamazoo.
In just six hours, they prepared four challenging pieces and performed them that same day. Even more impressive, they worked under the direction of world-renowned composer and music educator William Owens, who is widely regarded as one of the top voices in middle school music education.
We’re incredibly proud of these young musicians and the dedication they bring to their craft. 🎼🐾

If you have not filled out the Education Benefits Form yet (https://brandywine.familyportal.cloud/benefits/onlyapplying), please do so TONIGHT by midnight. We are able to reopen our numbers for a limited time. In the past, this form was filled out for free and reduced lunches. Even if you don't qualify, and even though lunches are currently free for all students, this form is still very IMPORTANT to funding we receive as a district.
The funding provided by having this form filled out is significant, and includes funding for programs such as: math and reading interventionists, building counselors, social worker, behavior interventionists, Title I paradors, student leadership conferences, teacher and administration professional development, intervention materials for students, and March is Reading Month Activities.

In US History class, 8th grade students dipped their toes into the three branches of government - Legislative, Executive, and Judicial.
As legislators, they proposed bills, gained support, took their bills to the legislative floor for to be approved, and then sent the bill on to the Executive Branch for the President to sign it into law. They also took on the role of the Judicial Branch to judge if the law was constitutional. It turns out, passing a law is not as easy as one might think!
