Last Friday was Career Pathway Day for our ninth graders! Career Pathway Day, organized by Berrien RESA, gives our students the opportunity to explore career opportunities in different fields.

Two of our Seniors, Kaeden Warfield and Ryder Richard, were exhibitors at the event as part of their Sports Medicine CTE class they take at Buchanan. Students practiced walking with goggles that simulated what it feels like to have a concussion. Learning in action!

The Pride of Brandywine Marching Band ended a phenomenal season on Saturday with their highest score of the season and a 2nd place finish in their Class at the East Kentwood Band Competition, the largest Scholastic Band Competition in the State. The Band also took caption awards for "Best Color Guard" and "Best Marching" in addition to earning awards of excellence in ALL categories.

A special shout out goes to our Color Guard program (a part of the marching band), headed by Susan Roth and assisted by Meg Pomranka. In addition to taking the award of "Best Color Guard", the color guard scored higher than all class "B" bands and many class "A" bands at the competition, including the Grand Champion band who had the highest overall score of the evening. The program and Mrs. Roth received enormous compliments from the color guard judge, who is one of the most prestigious color guard coaches in the Midwest. Congratulations!

🐾Character Trait of the Week: PERSEVERANCE🐾

Perseverance means sticking with a task or challenge even when it’s difficult or takes a long time to complete. Perseverance involves continuing to try and put in effort, even when things get hard or they face obstacles. It’s about not giving up easily and understanding that making mistakes is a part of learning.

🐾 Introducing the Pawz Patrol! 🐾

Starting next week, Merritt is launching the Pawz Patrol — a group of outstanding second graders nominated by their teachers for consistently showing CATS expectations during arrival and dismissal!

These student leaders will be on the lookout for others demonstrating positive behavior. When they spot someone meeting CATS expectations, they’ll hand out special tickets. Students can turn in their tickets for a chance to win an extra recess at the end of the month!

The Pawz Patrol is part of our school’s PBIS program, and we can’t wait to see our second graders shine as role models and leaders across campus!

Mrs. Anderson's sixth grade math classes finished their latest project yesterday - building and planning their very own food trucks! In groups, students built a model of their food truck, using proper measurements and a blueprint, while also creating the menu and pricing. Students then made presentations about their food trucks to the teachers and their class.
