In Mr. Pomranka's 8th Grade Math Foundations class, students are utilizing "vertical white boards" to engage with math. Students are put into groups to work out math problems on white boards placed throughout the classroom.

The purpose: to get students up and moving, and collaborating with each other to better learn math concepts.

Our fourth graders are inventors!

Students in fourth grade have been studying famous inventors as part of their latest CKLA unit. To round out the unit, students invented their own product and had to present to a panel of judges "Shark Tank" style on Friday. Inventions included an automatic hand washer, a salt Roomba, a water bottle reminder, a face scanning locker, and a heated basketball. The creativity of our students was limitless!

Hear from our students and their teachers on the upcoming episode of Cat Chat this Wednesday!

🐾Character Trait of the Week: HUMILITY🐾

Humility means being modest and not bragging about your accomplishments, even when they do something well. It’s about recognizing your strengths while also understanding that everyone has room to grow and learn.

Mrs. Murray's 7th grade science class is testing chemical reactions!

Today, each group did a lab mixing different ingredients together and measuring the temperature change. One group mixed vinegar and baking soda, another group mixed root killer, saltwater, and aluminum foil. At the end, they'll compare their results. The goal of the experiment is to see what reaction heats up the fastest in order to heat food in an emergency.

Today in their Astronomy unit, they learned some of the phases of the moon, and practiced creating them with Oreo cookies! The best part - they were able to eat their moons afterwards.
