It's the last week before holiday break!
Staff at Merritt worked hard on a community service project last week! They were able to make over 75 spaghetti dinners and over 50 Birthday boxes! Each bag/box included a hand written card and everything a family needed for dinner/dessert! All of the boxes were delivered to the Salvation Army right here in Niles!
Merritt student Easton had some special creative time today building characters from Roblox with Mrs. Hawes. He was so proud of his creation!
Ms. Gmeiner's DK class is getting into the holiday spirit with holiday counting games, creating with connecting cubes and enjoying Santa's workshop!

Students in fifth grade STEM class have been working on designing and building toys for several weeks and last week they took them to our Kindergarten classes to play with! The little ones enjoyed meeting up with their buddies and seeing their inventions!
Last week, our second graders wrapped up their Ancient Greece and Greek Mythology domains in Knowledge—and they did it in true Greek fashion!

✨ Tried their hand at a guided mythological drawing
✨ And even hosted their very own Olympic Games!

This morning, our September and October Merritt Supercats were honored! These Supercats: Care, Are Respectful, Take Responsibility, and are Safe. Way to go to all of our amazing Supercats of the Month!
The proceeds from last year's Coffee Sleeve Campaign with Partnership for Children and 2nd & Main helped bring Santa to town and provided a toy for every elementary student. Grab your sleeve before the month of November is up! For a $1 donation, $20 goes back to Partnership for Children thanks to many local businesses!

Ms. Coleman's first graders are working on improving their reading rate! They have also been practicing adding more expression and increasing their accuracy when they are reading. Ask your kiddos to read to you at home to see how much they've improved!

It was Thanksgiving Feast day today at lunch! Our students enjoyed a turkey dinner with all of the fixings. Thanks to our food service staff for celebrating with our students!

Happy little learners in Kindergarten!
Ms. Little’s DK class kicked off their Monday morning with some calendar time! Students figured out what day of the week it is, what tomorrow will be, and what yesterday was. They also checked in on the weather outside and reviewed their classroom rules. A great start to a great week!
