Students in Ms. Little's class got the inside scoop on pumpkins!
They read the book "It's Pumpkin Time" and then got to play! Each student got a chance to play in the "pumpkin guts" and separate out the pumpkin seeds. Today, they roasted them for a snack!
Merritt students celebrated National Bullying Prevention Month during their Community Circles! Students discussed ways to show kindness to others and created their own “kindness links” to form a paper chain. Each class added to the chain, connecting the entire school in one powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Fall Break is October 23-26. There will be a half day of school on Friday, October 23 and no school on Monday, October 26.
Last week, our preschoolers' snack time double-dutyed as a fun math lesson! The kids grabbed measuring spoons, measuring cups, and scoops to measure out their ingredients and build their very own ultimate trail mix.
Last week, our second graders wrapped up their Ancient Asian Civilizations unit with an amazing cross-classroom learning adventure! Students traveled to each second grade classroom to experience a different hands-on activity:

-Mrs. Dodd’s Class: Tasted delicious rice and mastered using chopsticks
-Mrs. Wallick’s Class: Created directed drawings
-Mrs. Lovison’s Class: Crafted dragon paper chains
We are so proud of our young historians for their curiosity and enthusiasm as they explored ancient cultures! What a fun way to end a great unit!

Stop by the Title I Table at Parent Teacher Conferences next week on Wednesday, October 21 and Thursday, October 22 at both Brandywine and Merritt Elementary. Our staff will be on site to help you support reading at home.

-Discovering amazing early contributions like silk, paper, and iconic landmarks like the Great Wall of China!
- Listening to classic stories and myths that teach important lessons and shed light on ancient beliefs.

Our Bobcats showed off their style yesterday and celebrated Hat Day as part of Homecoming Week! From fun and funky to cool and creative, our students brought their hat game and school spirit!
