Welcome Isabel Soileau to Merritt Elementary! 🐾

We are excited to officially welcome Isabel Soileau as our new K-2 Special Education Teacher!

Isabel earned her Elementary Teaching Certification through the #T.E.A.C.H. program. She grew up in Austin, Texas. She is thrilled to join Merritt Elementary, where she was instantly drawn to the close-knit, welcoming community! Outside the classroom, Isabel loves spending quality time outdoors with her family and whipping up delicious creations in the kitchen through cooking and baking. She can't wait to partner with our families and watch her students grow both academically and emotionally this year!

Welcome Morgan Palmer to Merritt Elementary! 🐾

We are so excited to introduce our new First Grade Teacher, Morgan Palmer!

Morgan earned her degree from Hope College in Elementary Education with a specialized endorsement in Emotional Impairments (EI), and she brings a rich set of skills to the classroom—including fluency in both English and American Sign Language (ASL). It has been a big summer for Morgan, as she just tied the knot in Holland, Michigan! She chose Brandywine because of the instant sense of community she felt the moment she stepped on campus. Building strong relationships is at the heart of her teaching, and she is most looking forward to meeting her new first graders and growing right alongside them this school year.

Starting school is a lot to take in when you’re 5. Before the math and story time begin, our Developmental Kindergarteners have been working on the basics:

Playground Rules: Playing safely and responsibly.

Bathroom Breaks: Learning the ropes and doing it all on their own!

Hallway Etiquette: Walking in a neat, single file line in the hallways.

It takes time to get the hang of all these brand-new routines, but our DK crew is crushing it!

We can't wait to see all that they learn this year!

Bond Project Update!

Construction continues on the CTE Center and Merritt gymnasium.

CTE Center: The concrete foundation is complete. Work has been done to get the ground leveled and packed with dirt so it's fully ready for the concrete floor to be poured.

Merritt: The building’s steel roof framing is fully up, the main concrete floor inside is poured, and all the outside concrete sidewalks and curbs are finished.

These projects were made possible by the passing of our 2024 Bond Proposal. To learn more about current and upcoming projects, visit https://www.brandywinebobcats.org/page/bond2024
