DK planted fairy gardens and terrariums on Friday after reading the story Thumbelina and learning about seeds and plants.
On Wednesday, HeadStart Preschool students visited Mrs. Ackerman's class to see what it's like to be in Kindergarten. Students from Mrs. Ackerman's class helped out and showed their new friends some of the activities they do each day in Kindergarten.



The tricky leprechaun made a visit to Ms. Knapp's kindergarteners last night, but sadly, none of the traps caught them!



Students in Ms. Knapp's Kindergarten class are ready to catch some tricky leprechauns on Monday, St. Patrick's Day!





Stories and S'mores on Tuesday night was a great success! Students enjoyed wearing their pajamas, eating hot dogs, and reading books! Mr. Walker showed up as the "Mystery Reader" for the evening. A great time was had by all!





Yesterday, Mrs. Jessica Hawes, a Special Education Teacher at Merritt Elementary, was awarded a $500 grant from the Rebecca Dewey, NSDAR, Three Oaks, Michigan chapter. She will be using the money for sensory items for around the school. Congratulations!

Some of the high school student athletes read to Mrs. Dodd's 2nd Grade class on Friday for March is Reading Month!



Mrs. High's preschool class got a special visit from Animal Control, the Berrien County Animal Shelter, and Nino the dog! They were all so excited to give Nino all the treats and pets.

Kindergarten Informances were so much fun! The kids had a blast and did such a great job.

DK students are trying to learn how to jump rope in gym class with Miss Lee!




On Friday, first grade wrapped up their CKLA Knowledge Unit on Early American Civilizations in which they have been learning about the Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations. They celebrated the end of the unit by doing directed drawings of llamas, which they learned the Incas used to help them travel. Students also tried tasty Peruvian Inca Corn Snacks.

Ms. Ackerman's class spent some class time reading and writing yesterday. They read about a little kid named Kit who had the mumps and wasn't feeling so good!

100th Day of School will be celebrated at Merritt Elementary on Monday, February 10! Students should come dressed as if they were 100 years old.
