Our learners in Ms. Gmeiner's DK class, created their very own Leaf Men as part of a book they read - The Leaf Man! They took a nature walk, picking up twigs and leaves for their project, and then came back to the classroom to construct their men! It was a perfect story for fall!
The Leaf Man refers to a children's book by Lois Ehlert. It's a whimsical and visually creative story about a figure made of leaves who is blown away by the wind.
In this episode of Cat Chat, Superintendent Travis Walker sits down with special guests to discuss the process of interest-based bargaining (IBB) — a collaborative approach to contract negotiations that focuses on problem-solving rather than positions. Together, they break down how IBB works, why Brandywine uses it, and how it helps strengthen relationships between administration and staff while keeping students at the center of every decision.
Tune in to hear insights, examples, and a behind-the-scenes look at how communication and cooperation shape successful negotiations at Brandywine.

🗳 Vote November 4!
On the November 4 ballot, Brandywine Community Schools will have a Sinking Fund Renewal. Is this a tax increase?
The renewal will be for ten years for a rate of 1 mill. This will not be a new tax, though due to the Headlee rollback, less than a full mill (.9913) was levied on properties in 2024, so property owners may see a very slight increase.
A "Headlee rollback" is a provision in Michigan's Headlee Amendment of 1978 that forces local governments to reduce their property tax millage rate if property tax revenues grow faster than the rate of inflation.
