Middle school students had their first "Random Munchie Moment" yesterday, which is part of their Feeding Motivation Program. Middle school students had to have a 70% or better grade in both science and math to earn a free treat! 148 students were eligible (76%). It was a great morning of recognizing and rewarding our students for their hard work and dedication!
Special "shout out" to Niles Service League and Honor Credit Union for their donations to make our Munchie Moment possible!

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Brandywine Community Schools will have a proposal on the ballot for a renewal of its Sinking Fund. A Sinking Fund is used to fund construction, renovations, and repairs throughout the district. The renewal will be for ten years for a rate of 1 mill. This will not be a new tax, though due to the Headlee rollback, less than a full mill (.9913) was levied on properties in 2024, so property owners may see a very slight increase. This millage will provide estimated revenues of $424,000 during the 2026 school year if approved and levied.

Count Day is next Wednesday, October 1!
Count Day is when all public schools in Michigan tally the number of students attending their schools. Count information is critical to districts, because each student translates into state funding. Fall counts represent 90% of state funding.

Copper, the Therapy Dog on Duty!
Displaying great leadership skills and following school expectations allowed 6th grader Paul to earn PBIS tickets. He cashed in his tickets for a visit with Copper and they played fetch today! Great job, Paul!

✂️ Our developmental kindergarteners in Ms. Gmeiner’s class practiced their scissor skills this week — snipping through play dough for some hands-on fun and learning!
Merritt and Brandywine Elementary students participate in weekly, and sometimes daily, Community Circles.
Community Circles are used for many different purposes, but they all center on building relationships and a sense of belonging. They can be used to:
+Check-in: At the start of the day, students can answer a simple question like, "What is one thing you're excited about today?" +Solve Problems: If there's a disagreement or a classroom issue, a circle provides a safe way for everyone to share their feelings and find a solution together. +Build Relationships: The teacher can ask fun questions like, "What's your favorite animal and why?" or "If you had a superpower, what would it be?" +Discuss Learning: Circles can be a great way to talk about a book the class is reading or a topic they're studying.
Community Circles are a powerful way to teach open-mindedness because they require students to listen to different perspectives and to share their own thoughts and feelings respectfully. They create an environment where every voice is valued. #thebrandywinedifference

In Mrs. Reed's second grade class, students receive a "Book of the Month " for their home library. As an avid reader herself, Mrs. Reed likes to share the love of books with her students. By the end of the year, a student should receive at least 10 free books! The "Book of the Month" this month is a chapter book called Key Hunters.
