Congratulations to Junior Gwen Rosenhagen on winning 1st Place in the Niles District Library Art Show this past March for her drawing! It's gorgeous.

Congratulations to Ruth Livengood, who was named Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District 6 Teacher of the Year by her peers!
When Mrs. Livengood started at Brandywine, the band program had dwindled down to 11 students. With her leadership, the program numbers doubled in a year, she established a marching band soon after, and in five years had close to 80 students in a small Class "C" high school band consistently earning Division 1 ratings at MSBOA festivals.
An accomplished professional trombonist, Ruth’s performance credits include a Grammy-nominated album (Aleluya by Lucia Parker) and a multi-year tenure performing with jazz artist Ed Bagatini. Her versatility as a musician is further reflected in her work with various orchestras, brass quintets, and ensembles throughout Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana. Additionally, she shares her expertise as a member of the adjunct faculty at Lake Michigan College, where she serves as a low brass professor.
We are so PROUD to call Mrs. Livengood a Bobcat! Congratulations!

This is cool!
Mr. Kennedy's English 12 class just finished the FoxFire series, a book series that looks at the cultural heritage of the people who lived in the Southern Appalachian mountains. Students had to pick something out of books that they were interested in and then prepare a 7-9 minute presentation. The interests ranged from summer and fall wild plant foods, to fiddle making and shoemaking.
Brandywine Senior Gracie McNamara presented on Spinning and Weaving. Our awesome Spanish teacher, Mrs. Flores, spins and weaves several different types of animal hair and wool. Gracie asked Mrs. Flores if she would weave while she presented! Mrs. Flores weaved while Gracie talked about what she was doing and how the manufacturing of textiles has changed and grown over the years, from back to ancient Grecian times to now.
We love a good collaboration! #thebrandywinedifference
