#Throwback Thursday!

Hey, look at that! It's the Pride of Brandywine from back in the day. We know the picture on the stage with the "B" is from 1959-60 school year. The other picture is of an unknown date, but we're guessing the early 60's.

Do you spot yourself in either of these pictures?

What makes a good friend? Just ask our fourth graders!

Yesterday, our fourth graders put their creativity and hearts together to make posters detailing the key character traits of a good friend. From funny to kind, they learned what it means to be a friend.

We love seeing our students take ownership of building a kind, welcoming classroom community—one poster at a time. 🌟

September 15 marked the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month! In Ms. Flores' Spanish 1 Class, students were tasked with researching a prominent Latino and doing a biography on them. Students picked figures such as Frida Kahlo, Lin Manuel-Miranda, Jennifer Lopez, and Bad Bunny.

Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual observance that honors the histories, cultural diversity, and invaluable contributions of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

Second graders are building math communities with their new Illustrative Math Curriculum! This math program emphasizes collaborative math work as well as use of manipulatives such as cubes, counters, and base ten blocks to help reason math.

The students have also been playing a math game called "What's Behind My Back?" It is a hands-on math game designed to build number sense. Students count 10 small objects together, hide a few behind their back, show the rest in one hand. Their partner must then figure out what's left behind their back!

Work on the CTE Center and Merritt Gym continues!

CTE Center: The current major task on the CTE Center is the erection of the Pre-Engineered Metal Building: Putting up the metal frame and walls of the building. Next up is installing the main pipes, wires, and ducts underground before pouring the concrete floor.

Merritt Gym: Currently installing the metal edges, gutters, and flashing along the roof to seal out rain and give it a finished look, as well as running main utility pipes, electrical wires, and AC/heating ducts through the ceiling. Up next is priming and painting the walls and hanging the actual doors and installing their knobs, locks, hinges, and handles.

These projects were made possible by the passing of our 2024 Bond. Find out more at https://www.brandywinebobcats.org/page/bond2024

We need all families to complete the Education Benefits form. Doing this will secure important resources such as staff, curriculum, and mental health support for our students. In fact, we risk losing over $1.6 million in funding if these forms are not filled out. Families, please fill out the form by October 7. The form can be found here and takes 5 minutes to complete: https://brandywine.familyportal.cloud/
